Tall, reaching for the sun,

Day lilies bloom

From early morning

Till nighttime when they are spent. 

Roots transplanted 

From garden to garden 

To share blooms

Through generations. 

Oranges, yellows, reds,

Old fashioned trumpets

Add colour and joy to our summer.
